History

680 North Lake Shore Drive – a part of Chicago’s history! In 1923 construction began for the American Furniture Mart which was then known as the “world’s largest building”. In 1979, David Paul and Peter Immelman (whom Mr. Paul bought out in 1980) bought the building from the Wirtz Company. Most of the building was gutted and Mr. Paul installed a garage, brand new plumbing and heating systems and prepared the property for the sale of condominiums. In 1982, Chemical Bank of New York purchased the building and completed the South Residence (120 apartments). Later, in 1990, the Tower Residence (131 units) was converted to condominiums.
